About The Artist

Because I spent time as a child on a farm, wandering the woods and tramping through fields and open land, the love of land and open space has been imprinted on my heart. Rural places, remote places and big skies speak to me. Distant lands call to me, and I choose to continue to wander. Unknown peoples and places are of great interest, and in my travels with my camera I try to capture something about them. I wish to find these places, memorize them, and preserve them in memory and in image.

Music and poetry inform my images, and my images imagine poetry and music. I wish to invoke mystery and nostalgia. Nostalgia and longing are so much a part of all life. It is hard to portray. My photographs are my effort to do that.

I admire and make reference to the greats of the past, Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sally Mann, Laurie Gilpin, and many of the Life magazine photo journalists. I aspire to the vision of these and many other incredible photographers who have managed to catch the beauty of our world.
